Create-a-Party - Make it Your Own Theme

Calling all creative geniuses, this party is perfect for you! A make-it-your-own party allows guests to bring their creative flair into many aspects of the party from their attire for the day to the food they will be eating. The idea for a party like this is to encourage guests to create their own party.
Speak to your child a few weeks beforehand and discuss what they will be making at the party so you can ensure you have adequate food and craft supplies ready to go. A party using this theme will work better with small groups of children so make sure the invite list is no bigger than 6-8.
Clever Costuming
Guests are invited to wear something they have made. They can combine outfits or create a special one for the party. Provide a book of craft materials so that when guests arrive they can make their own special name tags that reflect their likes and interests. You could also provide guests with an apron to wear throughout the party which they can keep and take home. If you're creative, you could make these for your guests yourself.
Menu Munchies
A party like this calls for creative cooking. Guests not only design the menu, but make the food as well. Pizzas are a great menu item that allows children of a young age to get involved. Milkshakes and burgers are also great food ideas that are fun to create and allow guests to put their own spin on them. Guests can also bake and decorate the birthday cake for the birthday girl.
Gratifying Games
There are a number of different art and craft activities you could run at a make-it-your-own party. Guests could each create a scrapbooking page about the birthday girls, to be put together as part of a memory book. Guests could do beading, patchwork or make their own papier-mache models. The list of activities is endless.
Fancy a Favour?
Allow guests to take home something special they made at the party - this could be an artwork, or a craft activity.
Party Pointers
Ensure you have enough supplies and activities so all your guests can get involved. Allow adequate time to create your craft activities to ensure all guests are going home with something they specially crafted at the party.
