Another long weekend is headed our way thanks to the Anzac Day public holiday on Monday 26 April. So take off in the car after work on Friday or early Saturday morning to enjoy the time off!

• Travel safe with these holiday driving safety tips. Also plan your trip well before leave home, allowing time for rest breaks to change driver, eat, go to the toilet and give the kids a run around. Before you depart, check that your car is up to date with its servicing, so breaking down isn’t an option.
• Here are some ideas for getaways this long weekend – hop in the car and you’ll be there in a couple of easy-driving hours:
• *Go on a farm stay – you don’t have to travel hours and hours from the city to experience wide open spaces. There are plenty of farm stay opportunities within a couple of hours of town, where kids can milk cows, take a hayride or collect eggs.
• *Rent a beach house – the weather may be cooling off, but the coast is still a lovely option for the Anzac Day long weekend. Build castles, explore rock pools, walk along the sand, collect shells, and paddle at the shoreline. The sun is less harsh than in summer, so there’s less worry about the kids being exposed to harsh rays. But still slip, slop, slap and wrap as always.
• *Head to wine country – this one is best suited to a kid-free getaway (thanks grandparents!). Potter from winery to winery with a designated driver (or join a tour), have a long gourmet lunch, and fit in some golf or day spa treatments if you fancy.
• *Treat yourself to a health retreat – head to a beautiful location to do some yoga, meditate, eat organic, be massaged and generally give your mind and body a break. Yes, you deserve it!
