Yes… when the weather starts to cool down and we turn our entertaining indoors, what better way to keep warm than with some karaoke action. • If staying in is more for you, you can easily hire a karaoke machine where you and your mates can choose whatever golden oldies take your fancy or there’s good old Sing Star and Guitar hero for those with a game console. Consider renting your discs versus buying (it can become a very pricey sing along!) Yes a karaoke party can be a hilarious night of fun, so here are some tips to make it rock:
• 1. Set up your space so it encourages participation – create a small ‘stage’ either by knocking something together with wood or throwing down a simple blanket (the blanket may be safer where alcohol is involved), you can also hire a few lights with coloured lenses to help shape the space
  2. Hang up a disco ball, it can instantly help create the mood and set up tables and chairs so the ‘stage area’ is in view
  3. Have at least 2 microphones on hand
  4. For a roaring applause and to add some extra participation for those too shy to sing, make some numbers from 6-10 (let’s be kind) and buy some plastic hand clappers that you shake back and forth
  5. Try and keep a wide variety of songs on hand. Not everyone digs Abba so a good mix of the old and some more contemporary tracks will help ensure there’s something for everyone
